When it comes to throwing a memorable birthday party for a little princess, there's no better inspiration than Rapunzel, especially the modern Tangled version! This Rapunzel and Tangled Themed birthday party was absolutely magical! I'm sharing all our ideas and inspiration to turn your party into a fairytale kingdom that's the perfect way to celebrate your special kiddo.
To make this birthday special we used decorations that tied together the whimsical components of Tangled (hello Pascal and frying pans!) with the cuteness of the story. Party favors doubled as the activity and as always food was a big part of the decor too!

Tangled Themed Food
One of the first things people think about when planning a birthday party is, what about the food? I love using the food to be a part of the overall decor and theme. This party was in the morning, so we had a donut 'tower', a fruit and yogurt setup, 'Apples for Maximus' (the puns with this theme are 10/10!) and of course a lot of treats!
The rice krispie 'paint brushes' my friend Christina made are one of the cutest things I've ever seen! You could make a pan of rice krispies or use the store bought ones and dip them in melted chocolate. Add a popsicle stick and it's the perfect on-theme treat.
Cake and Desserts
The cake was from OKC sweets and we added this adorable cake topper. I like that with this etsy shop you can customize it or keep it simple. This is the purple cake stand, I have this stand in a lot of colors!
Christina built the cupcake stand- it was beyond adorable. I like to do a mix of cake and cupcakes since custom cakes can be pretty pricey. That way people can decide what they want and it spreads it out a bit.
The punch was a mix of grape juice concentrate, lemonade and sprite. The lemons cut out as flowers were so sweet and a cute touch!
Tangled Party Decorations
The decor for this party was so much fun. We used this design for the food signs and the invitation. The color scheme was purple, pink, yellow and a few touches of green. We made the balloon using a kit from Lushra- they're our go to when making them on our own! (Cozy10 for 10% off your garland purchase.) We used the 'Lovers' kit and took out the blue balloons. Check out this tutorial if you've never built a garland, and this one if you're looking for tips and tricks to hang one! If you're going to make your own balloon garland I highly recommend picking up one of these balloon pumps.
The balloon mosaics were so fun to make for this party! I made a Pascal and a tower using these templates (Pascal, tower). I used 5 inch balloons and partially inflated them for the smaller areas (green and purple balloons). If you're wanting to learn how to make a balloon mosaic check out this post!
My favorite thing to make might have been the arch! I used the Hobby Lobby viral arch you may recognize from our golf birthday party and the fall baby shower, but changed the flowers glued to it. Then I spray painted some toy frying pans I grabbed at goodwill and added them to the arch with push pins! I love the movie tangled so adding the frying pans was a priority. At one point I wanted to let the kids hit a pinata with a frying pan but quickly had second thoughts on that one, ha!
We also used flowers from Trader Joe's and put them on tables around the party. Flowers are always a great way to decorate for parties.
Favors and Activities
For favors, we had art easles set up since Rapunzel loves to paint. They could either paint durig the party or take them home.
Tips for Throwing a Rapunzel Party
- Pick a color scheme! Sticking to colors really can pull together a look and feel of a party, even if you're adding some cheesy Chameleons to the mix.
- Make your food a part of the decorations. It's fun to make a themed-food table, and then people eat a lot of the decorations which helps with clean up!
- Decide if you'd rather spend time or money. You can make a lot of the components from this party and thrift things- foam board decorations are a favorite of mine because you can make all kinds of fun shapes and decorations. But it does take some time!
I hope this helps you plan your own Tangled or Rapunzel party! Let me know of any questions in the comments!
