This sweet shower was born out of a desire to blend vintage touches with a baby boy. We planned to incorporate wooden toys as a part of the decor, and the more we got into it the more we drew inspiration from this bunting flag and wooden vintage toys. To plan this airplane baby shower we started from a mood board and really focused on what the mom to be wanted for her priorities. It came together beautifully!
When planning a shower it's important to include the guest of honor either as little or much as they want to be included, and to find out what's most important to them. Some mamas care about the food, or the favors and decorations, while some may want to be surprised completely!

Decor
When planning the decor we really wanted to make it a sweet, vintage-inspired shower with a few toys. This bunting flag inspired the color palette. Jesika's sweet mom made the table runners and napkins, along with the leather napkin holders! They really pulled together a masculine tone for this baby boy's shower.
The centerpieces were made with vintage suitcases (they were my grandmas!) and wooden planes sat on top. Each suitcase was surrounded with a few bud vases (I love these sets in clear and amber) with simple florals.
This sweet banner hung over the fireplace along with little boy outfits. I love how the mini clothesline clips emphasis how tiny they are.
Feature Wall and Favors
Probably the most eye-catching piece for this shower was the custom arch favor wall. It turned out absolutely perfect! The balloon cloud was a quick DIY, and the bunting flag hung perfectly over the donut favors. The donuts were cake donuts from the mama to be's favorite shop, they were such a hit and look so fun! The custom bags people could put them into was a nice extra touch.
Next to the arch sat the cutest ride-on plane toy. It was a gift from the baby's grandma that we were able to incorporate into the decor. These bags were one of the mama to be's favorite parts!
Welcome Guest Book
The first time I ever saw a Bible being used as a guest book was at my sister-in-law's 'She's been scooped up' bridal shower. I've used one at every shower I've hosted since, it's truly one of my favorite parts! It's a way to be super intentional and focused on what's really important about a new baby joining a family before jumping into all the fun of celebrating that mom and baby. How it works is you have a Bible sitting out and ask each guest to pick a verse to highlight or sign. You can even ask them to commit to praying the verse over your family.
For this shower there was a larger guest list, so using round tables was the easiest way to fit the space. It ended up looking so pretty!
Baby Shower Food
When planning out your shower food, think about what time of day the shower will be. You can plan sweet treats, a full meal, or a huge charcuterie spread. The mama's sweet family put this spread together and not only was it gorgeous it was delicious!
One of my favorite vintage touches was this Italian Soda Bar. Using milk jar glasses and paper straws it was a cute vintage touch and a fun activity for guests to make their own beverage.
One more shout out for the food- these macarons were too cute! They were custom colors that matched the theme of the shower and looked so pretty!
Tips for Hosting an Airplane Baby Shower
- Everything doesn't have to screen airplane. We incorporated the signage and invitations, centerpieces and a few touches here and there while just focusing on the colors to give a cohesive feel.
- Borrow, borrow, and borrow! I have a closet stash of things we pull out for showers, everything from the plates to bud vases were things I already own. That should help on the budget too!
- Find out upfront who all will be helping, whether it's hosting or contributing (financially or by baking or decorating) and be super communicative to keep everyone on the same page.
- The wooden airplanes were bought for centerpieces but we were able to gift them to the mama to be too! So if you are going to spend money on something to build into the theme it can be nice to reuse it.
