I'm so excited to share how to cut strawberry hearts with you today! This is so simple and will elevate any afternoon snack, charcuterie board or chocolate covered strawberries. All you need is a knife to make two variations of these heart shaped strawberries.
Strawberries are one of our favorite fruits, be sure to try them with toasted marshmallows and as a flavor addition in these lime popsicles too! Their bright flavor is perfect for a summer treat as well as any Valentine's occasion.
Whole fruit hearts
The first way to make strawberry hearts is by leaving them whole and shaping them from the top of the berry. This is best for making chocolate covered strawberries (think Valentine's Day!) or for a cute charcuterie board! Here's how to cut them:
Make two angled cuts from the top of the berry on either side of the green leafy part. The cuts should form a "v" about ¼-1/3 way down from the top in the center.
Pull the cut piece out and then curve the top freshly cut sides to make a rounded heart shape! and voila! that's all there is to it.
Heart shaped strawberries halved
For this variation, cut the berry in half from the top (widthwise- so through the widest part).
Place the cut end of the berry down on the cutting board and follow the same process as for the full berry hearts, making a "v" on either side of the green leafy top. Remove the cut piece and flip the berry over! Repeat with the other half.
This variation of the heart shaped strawberry is fun for kiddo snacks, a fruit platter, or as a garnishment!
That is all there is to it! Let me know what you use these cutie berries in! Looking for some charcuterie board inspiration? Check out our Valentine's Charcuterie Board!
