Ingredients

  • Puff pastry- this is in the freezer section. You'll use one sheet to make 3 toaster strudels.
  • Jam in flavor of choice, I used strawberry since I wanted a patriotic stars and stripes look.
  • Egg and milk for egg wash.
  • Powdered sugar for the glaze.
  • Sprinkles
jar of strawberry jam to be used as filling.

Directions

  • Thaw your pastry puff following the packaging instructions.
  • Cut into 6 rectangles and line on your baking sheet.
  • Make your egg wash by combining a splash of milk with an egg. Brush or spoon on the egg wash to the tops of 3 of the pastry puff rectangles.

  • Using a knife, cut slits into the pastry puff shell that has the egg wash on it.
  • Using a fork, make little indentations for the 'stars'. You'll fill with sprinkles but this gives you an idea of where to place them. You don't have to do this part but I found it helpful.
  • Add jam to the bottom layer that does not have the egg wash on it.

Next, using a fork, close the toaster strudel but gently pressing down. If its stick add a bit a flour to the fork.
