Easy Salted Caramel Sauce

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe
Easy Caramel Dipping Sauce

I'm so excited for this weather to cool down so we can go apple picking! I love that fall is full of fun adventures and most of all, yummy goodies! So in order to get into the fall spirit (even in this late summer heat-yuck!) I'm going to share with you this easy salted caramel sauce recipe from my mom! It's so yummy and is the best salted caramel sauce ever. You can even use it when making a Caramel Apple Bar for your next party. I made this for my husband today, and we used it as a dip with fresh apple slices. So good. It gave me all of the fall vibes without needing to fire up the oven and spend the day baking in the kitchen!

Best Salted Caramel Sauce Steps

This recipe only calls for 4 ingredients plus water, so there's a good chance your kitchen is already stocked to whip up this yummy sauce! This is such an easy salted caramel sauce because there are really only two steps.

Sugar, water and salt mixture

First, add sugar, salt and water to a pan on medium heat. Allow the sugar to dissolve while stirring. Once the sugar has completely dissolved, let the mixture boil until the sugar starts to turn a light golden brown. I prefer to have a lighter colored sauce that is more mild in flavor, but heat until you've reached your desired shade of golden and remove from the heat.

PSA: the sugar will burn FAST so don't let it get too golden or you will have to start over! The sugar will also continue to get more color once it is off the heat.

Second, add the cream, vanilla extract, and butter to the sugar mixture and stir until completely mixed. Pour the hot mixture into a heat safe container and allow to cool. And. That. Is. It!! so easy!

Enjoy your sauce!

If you prefer a runnier sauce, eat it warm. But if you want that caramel apple consistency, let it cool off all the way! I love to dip my apple slices into the warm caramel while it is still liquid.

best salted caramel sauce!

There are so many ways to enjoy this sauce! I've used it in apple turnovers and I plan to make salted caramel crepes next! YUM! It would also be so good drizzled over ice cream or cupcakes! I hope that you enjoy this easy salted caramel sauce recipe, let me know what you think in the comments.

XOXO,

Melanie
