Dollar Tree Halloween Wreath DIY

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Never underestimate the decor you can create with items from Dollar Tree. Even though it's now technically the "$1.25 Tree", I am consistently surprised by the affordable items I can find to make my Halloween dreams a reality. Check out this easy-to-make Dollar Tree Halloween wreath to decorate your door for spooky season.

Not only is this craft easy, but you can change it up with the seasons and save it from year to year. It'd be the perfect craft for hosting a girls' night while binging Gilmore Girls or Hocus Pocus. We love easy crafts like this, if you're looking for more easy but still spooky decorating ideas check out our Halloween front porch, or make Halloween paper chains!

Instructions

  • Spray paint the green foam wreath with a color of your choosing. I had an orange/rust color on hand already, so I used that. You can spray paint both sides, but since you will not be able to see the backside of the wreath, I opted to just paint the top half.

  • Use knife, scissors or similar sharp object to create a small hole on the under side top center point of the foam wreath. This makes it easier for the command hook to support the handing wreath. You could also tie a string at the top of the wreath and hang that on the command hook.

  • Place a generous amount of hot glue on the side of an ornament.
  • Place on the foam wreath where you wish.
  • Repeat again and again until the wreath is covered in ornaments.

FAQ

Are there any substitutions you can make?

Yes! You can change the:
Spray paint color
Ornament color and size
Decorative spider could be swapped for a bat or bow

Can you use another kind of glue?

You probably could, but it would take significantly longer to dry and might not hold as well. We definitely recommend hot glue as the easiest option.

How many ornaments do you need?

For the wreath pictured, I used 5 boxes of the Dollar Tree mini ornaments.

Do I have to hang on a command hook?

No, you can use a wreath hanger or you could even hang on a doorknob.
