I like to think of myself as somewhat of a DIY Queen. Why buy it when you can make it, right? Perhaps my favorite time of the year for DIY craft projects and decor is the holiday season. I am not sure if it's the fact that I spend more time indoors or all the hot chocolate running through my veins, but I find myself very inspired.
Today I want to share with you my latest holiday DIY obsession. These mini felt trees would be perfect for your Christmas village, bookshelf, mantle, or anywhere in your home or office that has a flat surface and free space. They are cozy and versatile, with lots of room for your creative touches.

Steps/Instructions for Mini Felt Trees
- Cut out your tree pattern using standard computer paper (you may need to repeat this step later)
- Pin your tree pattern to the edge of the felt
- Cut out the tree pattern
- Repeat 6x
- Using hot glue gun, glue the edges of 2 felt trees together
6. Continue to glue 2 edges together until all 6 trees are glued together
7. Cut your wooden dowel to your desired length using wire cutters or scissors (note: if you are using the small wooden knobs as the base you cannot cut your dowels too tall or they will not stand up, the weight of the felt will knock them over)
8. Place one side of the wooden dowel into the center of the glued together felt trees
9. In the small opening where the wooden dowel meets the top of the trees, place a small amount of hot glue and hold until dry
10. Repeat at the point that the wooden dowel meets the bottom of the trees it
11. Place a small amount of hot glue in the hole of the wooden knob
12. Place the bottom end of the wooden dowel into the hole and hold until dry
FAQ
The thickness of the premium felt helps keep the shape of the tree for the best result.
Yes, here are a few:
- Wooden dowels can be swapped for wooden skewers
- Sewing pins can be swapped for safety pins
- Small wooden knobs can be swapped for small wooden blocks (You may have to drill your own hole for this, I chose the wooden knobs because they already had holes)
You can absolutely customize your tree pattern however you'd like. Keep in mind an intricate pattern might become more time-consuming.
